In 1968, businessman Abdullah Paksoy, founder of the Paksoy Factory, Haluk Kerkeser, a manager at İş Bankası, Behçet Bölgen from Çukobirlik, Attila Binöz, a representative of a multinational pharmaceutical company, and lawyer Turgay Şenyüz met to form a club. They had conceived of the idea while playing tennis on the two asphalt courts. Upon considering the removal of these courts, they decided to pursue this idea.
The five friends, who embarked on a quest to establish this club, which would enrich not only its athletic potential but also Adana's social life, quickly initiated discussions. They visited the late Nuri Pamukçu, the then-Accounting Manager of the Physical Education Association and himself a tennis player. Following the meeting, a route was charted. An appointment was made with Fahrünisa Hancıoğlu, wife of the late Adana Governor at the time, Ömer Lütfi Hancıoğlu, and a founding member of the club. The situation was explained. Following this meeting, the five friends were invited to the Governor's Residence. At this meeting, the issue of land for the club was discussed.
The number of founding members was increased to the legal number. The late Ali Hamurlu suggested including mountaineering among the activities, and the club was renamed "Adana Tennis, Mountain and Water Sports Club."
ATDSK, which hosts national and international tournaments, was officially established in 1969 following these initiatives. Making a name for itself in Turkey with the athletes it has trained from its youth academy, ATDSK has become a gateway to Europe for Adana, Turkey's leading city with a top-tier climate, thanks to its facilities and international-standard courts.
